DISCO group Village People could sue Donald Trump for using their music without permission.

The former US president often plays 1970s anthems such as Y.M.C.A, the band’s biggest hit, at political rallies.

But he appears to have taken it too far by having a tribute band sing another of their tracks, Macho Man, at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Village People claimed last week’s “unauthorised” video of Trump, 76, dancing along caused them to be “inundated” with fans believing it was a real performance.

Karen Willis, the band’s manager and wife of lead singer Victor, said they will sue billionaire Trump if he continues using their music.

In a letter to Trump’s lawyer she wrote: “It is requested that he cease and desist any such further unauthorised use of the Village People image in association with the songs and his campaign or in his personal capacity.

“Otherwise, we shall be forced to bring suit preventing further use, not only of the Village People trademarked image and trade dress, but of the music as well.

“We’d hate to have to do that but such combined use causes public confusion and is suggestive of endorsement.”

But Trump’s personal lawyer Joe Tapocina hit back insisting they should be thankful for the publicity.

He said: “I haven’t heard their name in decades.

“Glad to hear they are still around.”
